How Much Sugar Should I Eat?
Published March 6, 2024
In my case, apparently, the right amount of sugar should be none.
According to the FDA, the daily sugar value is 50 grams for a 2000 calorie diet. According to the American Heart Association, the limit for men should be 36 grams and for women 25 grams. I have noticed if I start eating a treat every day, like an ice cream cone, a cookie, or a chocolate bar, I start gaining weight. These treats account for about half of the FDA's daily sugar value and still significantly affect me.
The body does not need any added sugar to function properly, even though the main source of energy for the body is glucose. The body can create glucose from starches found naturally in grains, fruits, and vegetables. Added sugars are just additional calories without any nutritional value.
Conclusion
I am staying away from added sugars as much as I can.
